Okay, this is what I am doing: My truck listed above 1500 had a 4.7l engine in it and it went south on me while towing. I have a 2005 Hemi that I am in the process of swapping into my truck. I already have done the main work, plus I am getting an engine computer programed to delete the security key feature. Wondering if there might be other issues I may encounter. The engine fits my truck real well and the clutch and tranny also fit the newish engine great. The donor engine came from an early 2006 (2005) wrecked truck. What might I also need to finish this swap please?

Good morning,

Make sure the top end of the motor is the same as your bad engine. If it is the same, just continue to hook everything up.

If it is different, you may need to swap manifolds around to match the original setup.

Okay, the motor I have is a 5.7l hemi that has what I call an octopus on top of it. My 4.7l which it is replacing does not. There are quite a lot of differences between a Hemi and what I removed (the 4, 7) so I do know that it might be a bit harder. Thank you for responding to my original question.

Then I would suggest getting the underhood engine harness from the donor vehicle so everything matches up. There would be no adapting to the current harness.

Already did that have the entire harness even the part that goes inside the cab. Even got the battery box. Still having a bit of a problem though that I think was caused by the shop doing the work but I do appreciate the answers you give.

At this moment I believe that I will need the skim deleted from the PCM. I have read on several forums that doing this removes the need for a programed key if I remove the unit that senses the key at the ignition switch. Going to try that and see if it solves one of the issues.

That will work for you. There are many companies that can do that for you.

The biggest problem I have is finding a PCM for a stick shift hemi. Very few companies have them and those that do have the PCM do not do the skim delete which is one thing I definitely need to get this to work correctly. Any suggestions on who I may be able to get a PCM for a manual transmission that also does the skim delete?

The ECM a basic. You need to have someone flash it to a standard transmission. The ECM does not come programmed, it is programmed when installed.

As far as the delete, I see no one in my area that does this. You need to call some companies that rebuild these units and see if they can advise you on that rocedure.

I have removed the skim module and now just looking for a company to reprogram the computer that came with the engine I am swapping to. It came out of a 2005 ram 1500 we swapped the entire harness and related hardware to avoid problems. I need to know the name of a place that will do the skim delete seeing as I will be installing an aftermarket alarm that will disable my truck if someone tries to steal it. Again thanks for any help.

That is something you will need to search in your area. There are people out there that will program the ECM the way you like. Look for custom shops or speed shops as they are familiar with these procedures.
