Can I replace the engine in my truck listed above with a six cylinder from a 2001 Explorer?

Not without changing most of the wiring harness, dash, ECM/PCM, exhaust, and transmission. With everything being computer controlled and monitored it can sometimes be a hassle swapping the same engines out. That is because they use different sensor types, computer programming and wiring.
