I have an 2007 trailblazer (4.2 engine - 2-wheel drive- 124,000 miles- automatic). My engine is knocking. A friend gave me his 2008 Trailblazer. It has the same 4.2 engine. Can I put the 2008 in my 2007 trailblazer? What issues will I have?

In general, you can swap engines between two vehicles of the same make, model, and generation, as long as they have the same engine size and type. However, there are some things to consider before swapping engines in your 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer with the 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer engine:

Compatibility: You need to make sure that the engines are physically the same size and that all the bolt patterns match. Additionally, you will need to make sure that the engine mounts, exhaust systems, and transmission lines up with the 2007 Trailblazer.

Electronics: The 2008 Trailblazer may have different electronics and programming than your 2007 Trailblazer. You will need to make sure that the engine management system, sensors, and wiring harnesses are compatible.

Drivetrain compatibility: Make sure that the 2008 engine is compatible with the transmission and other drivetrain components in your 2007 Trailblazer.

Engine Performance: If the 2008 engine has more miles or has suffered any damage, its performance may be compromised. In addition, if the 2008 engine has different performance specifications than your 2007 engine, you may experience a change in engine performance and efficiency.

It is important to consider these factors before attempting to swap engines. If you are unsure about the compatibility of the engines or the process of swapping engines.
