I just replaced my fuel pump fuel sending unit. The engine starts then shuts off. Fuel pump is kicking on because I could hear it. Error code came up saying I have a bad MAP sensor fault. Could my map sensor cause this? Because I really don't want to drop my gas tank again to replace another fuel pump fuel sending unit. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

If the MAP is bad, yes it could cause this to happen. Check to see if there are any issues at the connector. Check for corrosion or damage to the connector.

I attached the directions below showing how it's replaced.

Let me know what you find.

Joe

Take care,
