Engine stalled while driving at 50km/h?

I was driving at about 50km/h and my engine just shut down. Vehicle is out of warranty but when driving at 100km or 60miles/hour the engine revs at 4,000 RPMs and lacks power. What should I look for that would cause this or possible fixes. When it happened, there was a bit of white smoke or burn smell coming from below the engine compartment. Not sure if the transmission wiring harness is the cause or the TCM is causing this. Please help. I know that TCM would have to be programmed to the VIN of the vehicle. I don't want to buy new TCM if it will not fix the issue. How can I diagnose the problem better?

It sounds like it could be a crankshaft angle sensor, but we should run the codes to see what comes up.

Here is the location of the TCM in case you want to check it out. I would look for corrosion at the electrical connector. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.
