engine stall when reach 1300 rpm

engine stall when reach 1300 rpm, but only for half a second, immobilizer lights turn on for few seconds, check engine light just blink and then engine run normal. Engine still have enough power and everything is normal. And again when car is not moving, engine runs normal, it start normal. When accelerate and again reach 1300 rpm engine stall (seems to loose electric) and runs normal when get above 1300 rpm. Runs normal when rpm dropping to idle. I also notice when I accelerate very slowly thats not happening very often. If I accelerate quickly engine stall always at same 1300 rpm. Car is 2004 Mazda 6 diesel 2.0 100kW.

Hey GLUMAC,

This sounds like a classic alternator problem, do this, disconnect the alternator wires makes sure they do not touch ground, than take the car for a drive to see if the problem goes away.

Dear Ken,
thank you and I am sorry that it took me so much time to try this. I disconnect alternator and it is still the same. Also when it is very cold outside (-15 C) engine runs better but not every time. I tried to sent you video to see what is really happening but it will not accept mp4 file. Please send me another email on which I can reply.

Thanks for the video, that is an electrical problem, I would try disconnecting the alternator to see if you have a diode out which is throwing AC voltage at higher RPM's next check the battery connections including the grounds tot he engine and frame, next, I know it sounds weird but try another battery and finally it might be the computer has gone bad. It is a weird problem for sure have not seen that one before.

Hi Ken,

When I start my car in the morning (cold start) the check engine light flashes and car rumbles. But it drives fine with an occasional jerk that feels like gear shift on a manual and the rpm doesn’t go above 4,000 RPMs whenever the check engine light flashes. After about 3-5 minutes, i restart my car and the rumbling fades out and everything feels normal. Engine light now stays on. Since the car functions fine. Now I let the car idle in the morning for 5 minutes and then start driving. The same thing happens in the afternoon.

In summary the check engine light flashes for a few minutes during a cold start. If I stop the car after driving for 10 minutes and restart it, there is no such problem. I suspect this is a rare problem. i have taken my car to several garages. No one diagnosed the actual problem. coils and spark plugs have been changed recently, still there’s no end to this problem. Please help me out I'm finding a solution for 2 months. Please do the needful.
(Lexus is 250 2009)
