My vehicle listed above will shut off when shifting from P to D or P to R unless giving a little bit of gas first. At cold start when I shift into gear it doesn't shut off but after the first initial start of the day any time after engine warm up it will shut off when shifting into gear.

Hi,

That could be the result of a few things. At idle, how high or low are the RPMs? Also, other than the stall, does it run normally when you start driving it?

Is the check engine light on while the engine is running? If so, I recommend scanning the computer for diagnostic trouble codes.

Here is a link showing how to scan the entire system:

If you don't have a scan tool, most parts stores will do it for you free of charge. Let me know about that and let me know how it runs other than the stalling when warm. For example, does it idle below 700 RPMs before you shift into gear? Does it run rough or anything you can think of that may help me.

Take care,

Joe

Stalling at idle is a common problem, most of the time it means the engine has a vacuum leak or the throttle bore needs to be serviced.

Here is a guide to help you understand what's going on:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/stall-at-idle

Can I ask if you have a check engine light on? If so, you will need to run the codes to see which ones are stored, which can help us fix the problem.

Here is how to remove the throttle body so you can clean it. Please go over the guides and check out the images below.
