Engine squeak

There is a squeak from the engine while at idle. The squeak goes away when gas pedal is pushed.

Hi,

It sounds like it could be the belt. Try this. When the engine is at idle, take a small amount of water and pour it onto the belt. See if the sound chances or goes away.

If you find the belt is not tight enough, there is an automatic tensioner that will need replaced. Here are the directions for that. The attached pictures correlate with the directions.

Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement

Removal Procedure
1. Remove the drive belt.
2. Remove the drive belt tensioner bolt.

3. Remove the drive belt tensioner.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the drive belt tensioner.

2. Install the drive belt tensioner bolt.
Tighten the drive belt tensioner bolt to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Install the drive belt Drive Belt Replacement.
