Today I noticed that the check engine light started flashing and engine started to run real rough and seemed quite powerless (engine was shaking strongly and acceleration was extremely sluggish)

Last week engine light turned on and gave me fault code P0135. That would suggest the front o2 sensor went bad.
Since this messes up the air fuel ratio, could that be the cause of these recent problems? Does too rich or too lean A/F ratio cause the engine to vibrate strongly?

Hi,

A fuel mixture that is extreme can cause a misfire. If the check engine light was flashing, a misfire was occurring.

If you have access to a live data scan tool, can you let me know what the short term fuel trims are? Also, if the check engine light was flashing, there will be additional codes. Can you get them and let me know what they are?

Here is a link you may find helpful. It explains how to test an oxygen sensor.

Here is one that explains how to replace one:

Let me know if you have other questions.

Take care,
Joe

Hey, thanks for the answer. Unfortunately I can't get my hands on a live data scan tool because the shop I work at is closed due to corona virus.

But I can get those trouble codes for you. I'll get back to you with the codes later!
