Engine runs hot when coolant is full?

My vehicle overheated so we added coolant, but it still runs hot after just a few minutes. What else could be the problem?

That description unfortunately sounds like a possible failed head gasket. I would start here:
https://www.2carpros.com/articles/head-gasket-blown-test and test to see if that is the problem. Then you have an idea of what you are facing.
