Engine revs up in neutral park and drive

When I start my vehicle revs to 4000 rpm and when I am in gear it just takes off by itself. any help with this would be greatly appreciated. thank you

Verify you have no vacuum leaks. If no leaks found then replace the idle air control valve. We should run the cdoes as well, this guide will help.
