Engine shut off when on the motorway, a mechanic said the timing chain went so the engine needs to be replaced.

I am looking to buy a new engine on Breakerlink but don't know if I need to buy 'Diesel engine complete or 'Diesel engine bare

Can someone please explain the difference and what I need to buy to get the car working again?

Hello,

A used bare engine is an engine without any accessories such as; manifolds, alternator and turbo. You would need to strip your existing engine and transfer all components. This would require you to purchase new engine gaskets and new nuts/bolts as required..

A complete engine would have everything fitted so only minimal or no parts swapping would be required.

Please see pictures at the bottom.

Please let us know how you get along.

Cheers, Boris
