What tools will I need to remove the engine?

And what are the steps to do so?

Anyway, you need a lot of tools. LOL You will need an engine hoist for sure because this one comes out from the top. Other than that, standard tools will do the job. However, before I jump in, I need to know if it is a 4wd or not. That will make a few differences.

Let me know and I'll get the directions to you. And hearing from you has just made my day. Believe me, I needed it. LOL

lol thank you! I appreciate that. And yeah, I have a cherry picker from when I did my Explorer engine. I have an engine stand too. It’s a 4x4 manual.

Okay, I have the directions below for removing the engine. It looks like a straightforward job. Just take your time. I don't want you getting crushed by the engine. LOL

Remove transmission completely? Or just separate it from the engine?

Just separate it from the engine. You should be able to get to all the bell housing bolts, It may be a bit tight at the top.

Everything is done except I am turning and turning the flexplate but don’t see any torque converter bolts. Am I missing something?

Hi,

If this is a manual transmission, it won't have a torque converter. The transmission will come out. Once it is out, then you unbolt the clutch cover/pressure plate from the flywheel.

I attached an exploded view below. Let me know if this helps.

You are very welcome. When you reinstall it, you will need a tool to align the splines of the clutch disc.
