Hello, I have a 1999 Chevrolet 5.7 L31 motor in my boat. It's carburetor. I have a major low end knock to it, thinking it's a broken crankshaft. I'm going to pull the motor and see if it could be rebuilt. I have been looking for hours online for a overhaul repair book, but can't find anything for the model or years. All I can find is pre 1996 or LS models. Can anyone help me locating the correct book it need? Thank you. Jeff

Good afternoon,

I attached a web site for different manuals.

The fact you have not done one before, make sure you have all the tools needed for this project. A cherry picker for removing and installing the engine and a good engine stand to mount the motor once you have it out.

Let a machine shop do the cleaning and all the checks for the block and the heads. Let them tell you what needs to be done with the pistons, if anything.
