My car listed above has had a bad temperature sensor for a few months, the fan constantly runs while the car is on. Recently the fan has come off and wont turn on at all for about 4 days and I got an "engine power is reduced" warning. My fan came back on and the warning was gone. Two weeks later the fan turned off again and about three days later the engine power is reduced popped up again. Every time the fan turns off for about 3-4 days I get the engine power is reduced. The dealership want to charge me $10,000 for a new engine. Could my bad temperature sensor be triggered the " engine power reduced" warning?

Hi,

OMG! They want to replace the engine? That doesn't even make sense at this point. Do me a favor, I need you to have the can-bus system scanned for diagnostic trouble codes. CAN stands for controller area network. Basically, all the modules and computers are tied together. By scanning it this way, it will indicate codes that can be related to any of the modules on the vehicle.

Here is a video showing how this is done:

If the engine runs normally when the light goes off, it is likely a sensor or electrical problem and not the engine.

Let me know if you can have that done. If so, let me know the codes that are found. Also, if you have other questions, let me know.

Joe

Hello Joe, I have the same car too, 2013 ATS Cadillac 2.5. I am having same issue "Engine Power reduce" light came on I scanned it and it is giving me codes P06DE. How do I fix it? I Googled around it saying Engine Oil Pressure Control Circuit Stuck On. Any idea how to fix this?

The code indicates the pressure control valve is stuck on. It could be a mechanical issue or electrical. When the engine is running, is there any ticking or knocking coming from the engine? If there isn't I need you to check the connector highlighted in the attached pic.

Let me know if the oil light stays on with the engine running too, the number of miles on the engine, and if the oil has been changed on a regular basis.

Take care,
Joe

Hi,

Does your vehicle have the same size engine as the one listed above? I need to know that as well as to confirm it is a 2013.

Let me know.

Not, it's 2.0 Turbocharger. I left the car at workshop today and the reason was simple, turbocharger isn't working, but why? They will find out, it would be good if only sensor went wrong, hope not turbocharger.

Yes, sure. I repaired my car and I am very happy, the problem was very easy and banal, 1 step - cleaning engine crankcase. 2 step - change engine oil (in spite of I have run only 2,500 miles it was black and dirty). Diagnostic was showing absolutely different problem, so not always computer can help us. Engine is working perfectly and turbocharger is working excellent. Thanks for your help. Good luck!
