I have 2 Nissan Quests with the same problem. Seems to idle ok but on acceleration it's obvious that something is seriously wrong. Very little power and a prominent miss. DTC's showing up are; P1148 (closed loop B1), P1168 (closed loop B2), P0031 (heater bank 1), P0051 (heater bank 2), P0300 (multiple misfires), P1402 (EGR system) and P0011 (intake valve timing control bank 1). As I said, I have 2 of these showing the same. I'm wondering if one item is causing several other codes. I'm thinking I'll change the intake control valve but wanted another opinion before I spend that money. Thanks

Hi,

The P1402 is what you need to start with. This is the EGR system and it can throw off the air fuel mixture which is what the other DTCs are saying. The P0011 is concerning but again, you could have multiple issues. This is the second code that you will want to move onto. You may end up replacing multiple parts but stick to this progression and fixing one may solve others.

1. P1402
2. P0011
3. All Others

Let me know what you find and we can go from there. Thanks

Very helpful. I found a problem with the EGR system and fixed it. I cleared the codes to see which ones came back. It still ran very rough and threw most of the same codes (not EGR). I decided to change the ECM with a used one I got off ebay. After replacing, it won't start. Is there a procedure I should do to "activate" the ECM?

Yes. I attached it below. Unfortunately, you will need a scan tool to do this. Let me know what happens after you get it programmed. Thanks
