Engine popping when accelerating?

When i am driving normally the engine runs fine, i can accelerate and pick up speed when applying light pressure to gas pedal, but if i push down harder it pops but still picks up. When i ease off the gas pedal it runs fine again, what could be the problem?

This happens when a camshaft lobe goes flat, I would remove the valve covers and disconnect the ignition coil, then crank the engine over and look for the one rocker that is not moving as much as the others, this will be the bad lobe. It fixes it you will need to replace the camshaft.
