Coolant reservoir had been chewed into by rodents, car overheated and went into a engine protect mode and we had it towed home. I changed the reservoir and the cylinder head temperature sensor, refilled with coolant and then reconnected the battery. Started the car and warning light won't reset and will not come out of engine protect mode. How do I get it to reset and return to normal drive mode?
Thank you.
Jason

Good morning,
Did you change the thermostat? If it overheated, that definitely needs to be replaced.
I don't have a code reader to know what the code is, and can't really drive it like it is to get it checked. I have not changed the thermostat but I will do that tonight. All I can see is the check engine light is on and on the left side of the display there is a warning up that says "Engine coolant over temperature" see attached.

Okay, that light is on from the code that is set.
Does anyone have a code reader you can borrow to check the code?
Is this the sensor you replaced?

No worries. I just wanted to be sure of the sensor.
