Engine not wanting to build up to speed making loud noise when put on the gas

Three weeks ago I put a used alternator on my van ever since then there has been a winding sound. I got in it today the car cannot build speed makes a loud sound when you press on the gas and will not build speed. The engine feels like it is labored to perform the task of just building speed.

Hello there, thanks for using 2CarPros.com. I would have to say that the used alternator you put on the van is probably bad. Low voltage to the ECM will cause all kinds of problems, and the whining noise is either the bearing or the belt slipping on the pulley. Here is a diagram to help you test the alternator:
