The truck would not turn over, all I got was a click. so, I changed the starter, same issue. So, I put the breaker bar on crank, and it acted like it was sized, but when I took starter off, I could then turn the engine with breaker bar freely. what could it be?

Hi,

The really makes no sense unless the flywheel is damaged and was hitting the starter motor. Is there any indication on the starter motor drive gear of damage as well as the flywheel? Also, have you bench tested the starter motor to see if it works removed?

Let me know. I attached a general pic below and circled the drive gear/Bendix. Let me know if you see any evidence of damage.

Also, most parts stores will bench test it free of charge for you. I suggest having that done.

Let me know.

Take care,

Joe
