Engine not starting?

I tried starting my vehicle and it just clicks. I just replaced a seized engine and I'm putting it back together I tried turning it on and the starter just clicks I went to look at it the starter housing was cracked. Is this enough to stop it from starting and second why would it have cracked.

Yes, if the starter is cracked it will cause it not to work. I would use a breaker bar on the front of the engine to make sure it turns by hand, then replace the starter motor. It could have just fatigued and let go. Here is how to change it out in case you need it. Check out the images (below).
