Joe, hi I'm working on a 1990 Ford Econoline RV, there is no power going to either of the pumps (low pressure in tank and high pressure on frame). I ran power from the battery to both pumps and both are working, the engine will crank when I put a little bit of ether but will not stay running. It's not getting fuel to the fuel injection. Is there a pressure regulator? I want to crank the engine and make sure it's not knocking or overheating before we spend any big money getting the electrical repaired. Thanks and no problem starting new thread, didn't know.

Hi,

No problem whatsoever. I'm glad I got to it before someone else. LOL

The fuel pressure regulator is on the fuel rail. I attached a picture of its location. Also, there is a fuel pump cut off relay under the dash, left side. The fuel pump relay is under hood on the right side inner fender. See picture 2

Let me know if that's what you needed or if you have other questions.

Take care,
Joe

You said there was a fuel pump cutoff relay under dash left side, what would I be looking for?

Is this a 250 or 350? As far as the relay, I have no pics because of the model year. However, the manual is only indicating under he left side of the dash. I am looking at an E350.

If you look at picture 1 below, that is the under dash fuse panel. Fuse 18 is for the fuel pump. Since the relay isn't in that panel, it is likely a separate relay. Chances are it is hanging. LOL

Let me know.

Thanks Joe, was looking on line and found picture of it. Checked all the fuses and those are good. Will try pressure regulator first, both pumps are working (wired straight) but won't run after starting fluid burns off. Not spraying but a little, don't want to blow the heads off of it! Will let you know what I find. Thanks

If I understand correctly, with the pumps hot wired and running, it stalls when the starting fluid burn off, correct? Are the pumps producing pressure? Have you checked for an injector pulse?

Morning, I tested for power at the injectors (none) and the next thing was to check and see if there was power going to the EEC at the power distribution box. This van has no PDB! It didn't say what to check if there was no PDB. Stopped right there. There are 2 relays on the passenger side engine compartment and EEC test Port. Not sure what I should do. Mechanical repairs yes, just not trained on electrical!

Pull the EEC relay and switch it with a different one having the same part number. Or, here is a link showing how to test one:

Let me know if that changes things. The EEC relay can shut everything down.
