oil light comes on when turning and there is a rattling/humming noise from the engine?

The oil light comes on when only turning and I've noticed a rattling/humming noise from the engine and engine seems to lose pressure when accelerating from a turn or stop. Oil level is fine and has been taken to a mechanic shop, but they only replaced the wheel bearings which was not a fix to this noise. I don't want to destroy the engine. What could this possibly be?

What happens is the if the oil changes have not been kept up is that sludge will develop inside the engine and plug up the oil pump intake. I would drop the oil pan and clean it. here is how the job is done. Make sure to roll on a new oil filter as well.
