Aunt owned and maintained it well. Sat for almost a year. It started right up as if it was on a battery tender. Everything works well except air cond. 80,000 miles. Changed oil and drove it from PA to FL. The engine has a noise that does not sound right. Did not want to spend money to have air fixed if engine was not good. Took it to shop and noise coming from tension pulley. They changed it and still had the noise. I believe the timing gears are right behind this tension pulley. Could those gears be bad at 80,000?

Hi,

The great thing about the 2.5L is there is no timing belt or chain. It is gear to gear. See pic 1.

These engines are usually really difficult to hurt, especially if they are maintained and not abused. Is the sound loud enough for you to record and upload for me to hear?

Also, how would you best describe the sound? Does it change with engine speed? Let me know as much as you can. Additionally, take a look through this link. It may be helpful.
