Engine makes loud whooshing sound when starting cold. Getting worse, like air escaping or pressure leak somewhere. Only lasts for seconds. Been doing this for 6 months.

Hello,

It sounds like you may have a vacuum leak or a serpentine belt that is dry. Here is a guide to help check for the vacuum leak and to change the belts.

Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

Hi there,

If you can post your engine type, I will be able to have a better idea as to what your problem may be. But I would be checking engine oil pressure first, do this with a master gauge. If the oil pressure is ok, start looking at external items as well, alt, water pump etc.
