My jeep was running fine today had it idling at the laundry mat for about 40 min. I then decided to shut it off until I was done! Upon starting it again it spit and sputtered engine light came on and I couldnt go more then ten feet! After shutting it off and turning it back on it stuttered a little but then seemed fine! I took it to auto zone to run the computer they told me some thing like its throwing multiple misfire code p031 and 032 and some emissions evap leak? Does anyone know what the problem could be? I have already changed the plugs three months ago then I broke the seal on my gas cap a month ago bought a new one and the engine light went off! Any info at all would be greatly appreciated its an 04 jeep laredo limited edition it has the 4.0 straight six in it!

Tose codes ar the O2 sensor in front of converter are the problem. Check fuel pressure with a gauge as well auto parts rent it.

Thank you for your reply the auto store said that my misfires would most likely cause the shortage to the o2 sensor saying emissions leak and crap. They want me to buy the coil for it which is 100 but I dont want to if they cant tell me for sure thats the problem! I also forgot when I had shut the jeep off at the laundry mat I put a new air filter in it! COULD THAT HAVE Tripped something?

No unless a wire came off. Have a pro diagnose the misfire as it can be any other sensor besides what I replied to do in first reply never believe an auto parts guy they don't fix cars for a living we do

Thank you! I just started up and there's no light on now and smooth idling so it appears that it may have happened when it was hot?
