My car has an issue periodically the check engine light and trac control light comes on. I have scanned it and I get a P0113 code. I replaced the Mass airflow sensor with a quality part. What else could it be?

Did you clear the codes once the repair was made?

Code: P0113 - Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor 1 Circuit High Input

To be clear this is the part you replaced correct? Check out the images (below).

Hi Ken,

Yes, I cleared the code after installing the Mass Airflow sensor. I installed it about 2 months ago and didn't have any problem until yesterday day and today. Here is a screenshot of the codes I got today. I took out the Mass Airflow sensor and looked for the gasket, is it the one on the sensor?

I would look for leaks before the MAF sensor in the air intake tube to the throttle body. if that looks okay the MAF must have gone bad, can I ask which brand it is? Also, if the engine has too much blow by it will fool the MAF sensor into this code. Check out the images (below).

Hi Ken, I bought the Mass Airflow sensor from 1A Auto, so it is a TQR.

I put my smoke machine on the line and the only place it leaked is at the Mass Airflow sensor (see video). Am I missing a gasket?

Yep, that is a leak at the MAF sensor, can you remove the sensor and check the gasket?

Hi Ken, I have searched for a gasket for the MAS airflow sensor for our 2013 Toyota Corolla and haven't been able to find one. So I think it is the one on the sensor. We recently drove the car 573 miles and did no have a check engine light the whole way. While there the check engine light came on, then disappeared the next day. Do you think this points to an electric issue?

That depends on which code is stored, can you run them and let me know?

It is a P0113 code. As I said, we drove over 500 miles without having an engine code on. Then it came on and disappeared multiple times.

Since you installed a new MAF and still have the code I would think you have a bad PCM or is needs to be re-flashed.

Ken, how can I test it, the PCM without taking it out of the car?

That is difficult, I would remove it and send it in for testing. But let's check the wiring connections first, this guide can help, and I included the PCM-engine and MAF wiring diagrams as well.

Hi Ken,

I went and got a new PCM and I am having the same problem, a P0113 code. Where should I start looking at the wires? The connection to the MAS airflow sensor?

Yes, that is why I gave the wiring diagrams and a guide and how to test the connections. Also, I would try another sensor MAF to be sure.

Hi Ken,
I started by replacing the connector to the MAS airflow sensor. But that didn't solve the problem. The thing that is different is that before I put in the new PCU, when the check engine light would come on when using cruise control the cruise control would go off and we couldn't use it. Now the cruise control work at all times even with the check engine light on. The error code I still get is a P0113 with no apparent effects on the gas mileage. It is like it is a phantom error code.

What do you think?

The air intake sensor is inside the MAF, the code is circuit high, which means the sensor is getting too much value. I would try a name brand sensor like Denso. Also did you check the wiring connections with a meter?

I got a Denso Mass air flow sensor and that has solved the issue. So no more check engine light are on. Thank you for all your help.
