engine light on

was stopped at a stop sign with turn signal on. the turn signal slow for just a second. went to store and straight home. while entering garage engine light came on.

The Check Engine light means the Engine Computer has detected a problem and set a diagnostic fault code. The place to start is by having the codes read and recorded. The people at many auto parts stores will do that for you for free. Be sure to get the exact fault code number, not just the description.
