Hello,
Anytime the check engine light gets illuminated, the first step would be to scan the vehicle for the trouble codes. As that can help with the diagnostics of why the light is on.
Are you experiencing any drivability issues? Does it run as usual or does it seems like something is not quite right?

As the engine light can be on due to an emission sensor like the oxygen sensor, it could be for a fault in the engine or transmission management system. So get it scanned first. You can take it to your local auto parts store and they will scan it for you and let you know the codes.
After you find the codes please let me know what they are. I will be more than happy to assist.
Thank you.
