My engine light came on about a week ago. It displayed a p0011 code for the bank 1 timing valve solenoid. Also it was making this grinding noise and feels sluggish. I replaced the solenoid and now it’s popping a p0011 and p0014 for the exhaust solenoid and the rattling noise happens more often. The grinding noise usually kicks in when it shifting gears. I’m stumped. I have not changed spark plugs yet. I do not know if it’s bad engine oil oil light is not on. One mechanic said it maybe a timing chain.

Hi, and thank you for using 2CarPros. For the timing codes you would need to check your oil level to verify it is not low. Low oil can cause these codes. If it is okay then you would need to check oil pressure. Here is a link to give you the basics:

If all looks good then you would need to check the timing chain to see if It jumped a tooth. The chain jumping would be the worse case scenario. With the grinding sound I would suspect low oil pressure. The sluggish running could be from the oil control valve not been able to adjust the timing.
