You will need to pull the Direct Trouble Code[DTC] from the vehicle via the Data Link Connector[DLC]. Here is a link below explaining how to do that:

We don't have information on your vehicle, but you can easily look up the code by doing a google search on it. Many codes are universal, though, so you can check here first, if you would like, and we can see if we can find it for you. From what you described in your question I would check your vehicle's voltage regulator, which is an internal part of the alternator in many vehicle's, but go with the DTC first.
