Noisy and code reader says cam phasers. Which has to do will oil. So, I changed my oil months before, but I never reset the change oil light could that be an issue? Do I need a new motor?

Hi,

The oil change light reset isn't related. That is just an indicator to remind you to change oil that is based on miles driven between resets.

As far as the cam phaser is concerned, yes, they could be making the noise. However, that usually doesn't indicate a bad engine.

Let me know what code you have so I can do a little research for you. Hopefully, it won't be anything major. Also, let me know if the engine is noisy at all times and if possible, record it running and upload it for me to hear.

Let me know.

Joe

Codes are p0012 p0010 p0130 p0301 304 300. It's noisy when the gas part turns on a few minutes after you crank it. Haven't driven it except around the yard because I don't want to make anything worse. Thank you, Kristy

Hi,

We have two codes related to the variable camshaft position circuit and three indicating a misfire.

I have the diagnostics related to testing which is required because there are several different things that can cause the codes to be set. However, most seem to be related to an electrical issue. For example, a loose connection or wiring issue.

I attached the start of the diagnostics below. Take a look through them and let me know if they are something you feel comfortable performing.

Also, I don't think the engine is bad. However, if the oil pressure is excessively low, it can cause things like this to happen, so let me know if you have ever noticed the oil light flicker on when the engine is at idle.

Let me know.

Joe

See pics below. Note: The last pic I attached requires me to know the results from test HK10 because it goes in two different directions for testing.
