Engine giving less power and engine light flashing

My audi a2 has its engine management light on, and the engine is shaking. It has also lost power and when the car speeds the engine management light flashes. What can be the problem?

The engine light is a warning that a fault code has been set in the ECU, so a good starting point is a scan to retrieve the codes, each code is a unique fault and this will help narrow down where you problem is, if the codes are for random misfire of specific cylinder misfire, check all tune items first including compressions.
