Hi,

Which fuse is failing? Also, when you say clutch solenoid switch, are you referring to the torque converter clutch solenoid? Also, does the fuse fail as soon as it's installed, or do you have to crank the engine for it to fail?

Let me know.

Take care,

Joe

Hi,

I attached a pic from the wiring schematic below. Fuse 9 powers several relays in addition to the PCM. It could be any of the circuits that have a short.

Here is what I need you to do: Remove one relay at a time and see if the fuse doesn't fail with one of them out. This way, we can narrow down where the issue is coming from.

Let me know what you find.

Joe

Ignition Run / Acc is the culprit.

Hi,

I just went through four different schematics and can't find a relay with that specific name. Are you referring to the ASD relay?

When I work back through the schematic, I find a fuse that sends power to the ignition switch (ign/acc) but that goes to the ignition switch and then to the schematic above. By chance, do you mean the fuse was bad?

Let me know.

Okay, then we need to remove one of the relays at a time to see which one is causing it to fail when you try starting it. Fuse 9 powers the relays.

If you look at the schematic above, I highlighted the relays involved.

Let me know.

Hi,

That is very possible. I don't know if you need them, but I attached the directions for the removal and replacement of the switch.

Take a look through them and let me know if you have questions.

Take care and let me know how things turn out for you.

Hi,

Does it fail as soon as the battery is connected, or do you need to turn the key on for it to happen?

If it fails when the battery is connected, the short is before the switch. If you have to turn the key on, then it's after. Let me know.

When I turn the key to start. I changed the battery wire with a split battery wire with a pointy connector on the post. And the connection on the split is way larger than the black wire it connected to. With no crimp. Or solder just twist and electric tape?

I would solder the connection, also I would disconnect the oxygen sensors to see if the fuse blows, then the ignition coil(s) then each injector until the fuse doesn't blow.

Hi,

Have you been able to make any more progress? As far as the distributor itself is concerned, I don't feel that would be the issue. Have you been able to try what Ken suggested?

The fuel rail needs to be removed first. I attached directions below specific to your vehicle. Make sure the battery is disconnected before you start and keep in mind the system is under pressure.

Also, here is a link that I feel is more detailed. However, it isn't specific to your vehicle. Between the two, you should be fine.

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.

Take care,
