Hello, I own the car listed above r/t. My car has been recently overheating to 226°F then I hear the engine fan kick on. Sometimes it cools it back down to regular operating temperature at 200°F-220°F. Other times I have to pull over and shut off the car for it to cool back down. It's gotten up to 240°F. I got the coolant system checked; and the mechanic said the system was fine. Does anyone have any idea what it may be?

Hi,

Does this ever happen while driving at highway speeds or is it limited to in-town stop and go traffic? Also, the vehicle can have either a single or dual radiator cooling fan design. Let me know which you have.

Let me know.

Stop and go usually and it's a dual radiator cooling fan.

Hi,

If it doesn't happen at highway speed, it has something to do with the cooling fans or something is restricting airflow.

Inspect the radiator to make sure it isn't blocked or dirty. If it's dirty, clean it with a garden hose.

Next, when you turn the A/C on, you should hear one of the fans turn on. Is that happening?

Let me know.
