My wife's car is in the garage with what started as a tow from the AA and now with the head re skimmed and the car stripped down. The garage found cylinder two is rocking back and forth and they are saying the engine is irreparable and needs a new engine. I was wondering as they have already done the work to the head and replaced points and plugs etc. Is it possible to buy a replacement block and then get another garage to rebuild up using the parts I already have?

Hey WRIGHTNEIL,

Yep this is typical of a garage that did not check the engine out thoroughly before continuing the repair. Unfortunately you are between a rock and a hard spot. At this point I would just have them put another engine in it because you may end up with a bigger mess trying to get them to patch what you have. Sorry

Let me know what happens

Best, Ken
