Hi,
What you described sounds like a faulty idle air control motor (IAC). Does it stall if you turn on the AC? The IAC is what is responsible for maintaining engine idle speed. Even though that is my first suspect, there are other things as well which will be discussed in the first link below that I attached.
Take a look through these three links. The first discusses the most common causes of a stall at idle. The second explains how to service an IAC and the third shows in general how one is replaced.

PROCEDURES
REMOVAL
The IAC motor is located on the throttle body.
1 Remove air duct and air resonator box at throttle body.
TPS Electrical Connector - 4.0L Engine

2 Disconnect electrical connector from IAC motor.
Mounting Bolts (Screws) - IAC

3 Remove two mounting bolts (screws).
4 Remove IAC motor from throttle body
INSTALLATION
The IAC motor is located on the throttle body.
1 Install IAC motor to throttle body.
2 Install and tighten two mounting bolts (screws) to 7 N.m (60 in. lbs.) torque.
3 Install electrical connector.
4 Install air cleaner duct/air box to throttle body.
