Hi guys, I am new here and having some problems with my car on the registration card shows model as E-CB1 with F18A engine. I am having this problem when the car's engine suddenly shut off in the middle of driving ang refused to start. After waited for half an hour or more it can be start again. I have changed the underhood fuse box, change the distributor, the spark plugs and the car is back to normal for about a week. Now it has happened again and worst is the timing is below 1000 rpm at idle. The car is using single carburator not fuel injection type. Please advise me of what should I do to solve this problem.
Thank you in advance

P.S. The pictures are before I change the fusebox

Check fuel pressure should have about 3.5/4 psi pressure and then get a jar and pump gas for thirty seconds should get about a half pint. Then due to its age it may be shooting fuel into engine after shutdown, so check for that and check and see if choke plate is closed while hot. If it is it is a choke problem, but I would bet that it needs another carburetor or overhaul because of alcohol in fuel.

Dear sir,
Thanks for your response.I had to towed the car home today after it stalled again.I have check all the vacuum connections and its seems ok, no crack or loose piping. After about couple of hours at home, I manage to get it started again but after I killed the emgine, it wont start anymore. When I tried to start, the battery sound like no power at all. Could a bad battery be the cause of the stalling before this?Or is there any sensors or relays that I should know about that cause this problems?Im trying to determine the real cause so I can save up the repair cost.
Thank you again for your time answering my question and sorry for my bad english.

By the way, the spark plugs are newly replaced and not showing any sign of fuel getting to it. Its clean. The fuel pump and filters are working fine too. The only thing that different are the dash warning, usually when I switch on the key there will be three red lights come on, the battery light, the engine oil light and the other one looks like the radiator image. Now its only the engine oil light comes on and its gone when the engine started. Could this indicates problems?

Well first think is to recheck your work you may not be getting a good condition then get battery tested for condition including load test. A bad battery will effect running/etc but that is normally on later model cars. Check the fuses by battery with a test light or volt meter see what you have one of them may be blown and recheck fuses inside car as well as starter relay. But make sure to recheck your work you did as I think there may be a connection problem in fuse box as well.

Thanks again for your quick and prompt reply.I have change the under hood fusebox and have check all the fuses in there everytime my car stalled. All seems to be in good working condition. The only thing I cant find is the starter relay as you mention in your diagram.I got a manual downloaded for my car but cant determine which model mine was. As for the battery, yes, every time I turn the key on, the lights are still on, I even managed to lowered my windows. If the battery is bad, do you think I can do that?As for the front ground wire, its seem a bit rusty. Will try to clean that up tomorrow and see how it goes. As at todate, I still cant get the engine started. If the relays or fuses are the true problems, it would save me a lot not buying a new battery although the current one is almost 2 years old. And its a dry cell type.
Hoping you can advise me more. Thanks sir.

Are you sure you have a carb on this every thing I show shows fuel injection. Check your pgm/main relay on this you might think it's a carb and not fi. Only a manual trans has a starter relay

Dear sir.I have check it mine is on carb. The underhood fusebox is also attached with the test light on 50A fuse and 100A fuse. Still cant have the car started. My guess now is on the battery. Do you have any other options in mind? Thanks.

Ok I checked 1990 does not have a carb 1989 does so it took info off of there do the ignition check I've posted in pic then get battery checked for condition including load test most places do for free. See if you have spark as you say you have fuel also check to see if it's in time with cam by removing top cover and bring up to tdc. See pics.

Dear sir,
Sorry for not replying for quite some time. Ok, I have it fixed already. Have the distributor checked again and its inner coils does seem to be the problem. Had to replace the whole distributor set, also have the alternater repaired for not charging enough current.I also had my battery changed as well during the process which cost me around MYR1000, which is around USD250 in total. The car is smooth now, but still have timing lowering under 1000rpm from time to time. Havent set it right yet.
Anyway, special thanks to you guys who have help a lot during my repair time. Hope my solution might help others with similar problem.

Thanks again.
