Engine shut off and will not turn over

Lost power while driving. When trying to turn over engine there is just a winding noise, but no crank from the engine. Was having idle issues when stopped before this.

it may be the starter drive gone out on starter. if you can hear starter winding up and running then it is a starter.

Would that cause idiling issues too?

try cleaning throttle plate on both sides and IAC hole with choke cleaner for idle.
