I shut the van off and went to start it and it would crank over but not start. I checked for spark and no spark. I replaced the crankshaft sensor and coil assembly and still no spark but cranks fine. I tried hooking up a scanner but it says there is no communication with the scanner. Please help.

Hi,

The first thing that comes to mind is the ASD relay (auto shut down). It is located in the under-hood fuse box. See pic 1 for location.

Switch that relay with a different one having the same part number to see if it makes a difference. If there isn't one, here is a link that explains how to test it:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-an-electrical-relay-and-wiring-control-circuit

If that checks good, go to the data link connector and check pin 16 for 12v battery power. Also, confirm pins 4 and 5 have continuity to ground. (See pic 2)

Here is a link you may find helpful:

Let me know what you find.

Take care,

Joe
