Engine comparability

The long block where you swap over the intake and such can be from a 1999 - 2001 however for a complete drop in engine 2000 and 2001 are the only ones that fit.
Ford changed multiple items on the newer engines so they won't work.

So the 2005 motor that is in my 2001 Expedition will not run the PCM gem (pretty much the computers) will that make it buck and spit and sputter and misfire then cause it to shut down and not crank/start. Like no power to the vehicle.

The 2005 engine isn't the same internally as the 2001 so the 2001 PCM and the rest are not compatible.

Is that what is causing my engine not to start/crank? And have no power.

Anyway i could put the PCM gem of a 2005 inside this vehicle.

That would cause many problems as the 2001 PCM is trying to control different parts than it was designed for. As to putting the 2005 parts into it, that likely isn't going to work as the anti-theft and VIN info won't match the 2001 and the wiring may also be different because of the other changes to the truck in those years.
