My car engine is the 1.9L TDI (diesel). My check engine light went off a few days ago and is giving off these codes: P0725, P1857, P1850, and P0380. Along with the check engine light coming on, I noticed a real lack of engine power. My car won’t go over 45 mph. It won’t shift itself into the proper gear (I have an automatic transmission). Any idea what could be going on here?

Thank you.

Hello,

The P0725 is the code we should address first which is the engine speed sensor. Here is the location so you can replace it.

The Engine Speed (RPM) Sensor -G28- detects engine speed and reference marks. Without an engine speed signal, the engine will not start. If the engine speed signal fails while the engine is running, the engine will stop immediately.

Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what happens.
