Engine chattering noise

My car is making a loud chattering noise from the engine and light blue smoke is coming from my exhaust. What could the issue be?

Light blue smoke is an indication that engine oil is seeping into the cylinders and being burnt. Along with the chattering sound, it could mean that your engine needs rebuilding or replacing. I would suggest getting a mechanic or mechanically inclined friend to look at it and listen to it.

Check the oil level to make sure the engine does not lock up. Is the oil pressure light on?
