What are the two holes on the top of the engine used for?

I am working on this car. On the top of the engine there are 2 holes that I can't figure out what is supposed to go there. I plugged them but it causes the car to overheat. Pretty sure is supposed to be the cooling system bypass.

Hi,

Is it possible for you to get a picture of them and upload it for me to see? As far as the model year, it wasn't offered in the US until 2004, so my technical information may be a bit different.

Also, you indicated you plugged the holes. If it was related to the cooling system, I would suspect there would have been coolant evident where they are located. Let me know.

Let me know.
Joe

When first started working on it I did nothing with them. When started the car water sprayed out, there are no clear connection points so put freeze plugs in. Looked the specs up online and it looks like there should be hoses there but can't find out what kind or what. So, the holes I am referring to are where the zip ties are located.

Hi,

I believe they go to the throttle body. See the attached pic for a 2004 and let me know if that is correct.
