Took the front cover off "timing case" and I took the oil pump cover off as well to clean oil pump; the two gears inside, one outer, one inner. The outer gear has a punched dot. My question is, what position does the dot go in? Up down or I don't know stupid me took it out without looking.

You need to mark them before you remove them, the gears and housing all wear together and moving them can cause wear and pump failure. As you didn't mark them, I would get one of the pump repair kits with new gears and cover just to avoid problems.
