Hello, there guys, it's just me Warren again. I have a question(s). Not too long ago (yesterday) I had my check engine light to come on. The following code is what my scanner found. First the familiar codes P0171 and P0102. I know the P0102 is the MAF sensor. We replaced that yesterday. And now these codes have shown up C1230 rear center input, C1229 rear speed sensor center coherency. On top of that I drove the van today and it ran really good. So far, the codes haven't come back on but as soon as I got home and pulled up in my driveway the van stalled on me. Now that is the first time I have ever seen it do that to me. But it did let me start it back up and pull it on up in the drive and to park it. Any ideas what is going on this time?

Yes, this can happen when the fuel pump or the PCM power relay is going out. I would do a fuel pressure test to see if it is low, which will help us find the problem.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-fuel-system-pressure-and-regulator

30 to 45 psi - you can rent a fuel pressure gauge from the auto parts store for cheap or free.

P0171 - System Too Lean (Bank 1):

P0102 - Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Low Input:

These codes are a separate problem, we only handle one problem per thread, please post your new question here, you must be logged in.

C1230 - Right Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Input Signal Missing:

C1229 - Right Front Wheel Speed Sensor Input Signal Missing:.

Here is the PCM power relay and fuel pump relay you can swap out which can fix the problem. Check out the images (below). Please let us know how it goes

Hello there Ken. Thank you for taking the time to reply. And okay, then I will make another thread dealing with the P0171 and P0102. Far as the ABS sensor goes I will call this new shop that moved in down the street from me and see how much they will charge to fix my ABS speed sensor problem (and thank you for telling me which ones the codes refer to because the scanner I have doesn't). Also, I will let you know what they have to say about it and what they will charge me to fix it. Also, I will have to have someone to see if they can reach the fuel pump relays you talked to about because I am in a wheelchair and I can't reach those unfortunately, Thanks again for sharing those diagrams. They're always a big help! :-)

Hello Ken, well I decided to take the van out for a trial run and I went at least 24 miles. And the ABS light came on of course but the Check Engine Light didn't. I am confused as to what is happening but, keep in mind I did replace the MAF sensor 2 days ago. Also, I do remember running the A/C the last time I was in it. But I didn't run it this time. Do you think that not running the A/C this time had something to do with it? I know that is a stupid question but I had to ask it. Aug 2nd, 2023 time:11:53 am. So far I haven't found anybody to help me with swapping out the PCM power relay and fuel pump relay etc.

I don't think the A/C had anything to do with it unless it is overheating? Let me know what happens with the relays.

Me too. Say, if I can find a store that has the ones I have. Would it be a good idea to replace them both with new ones?

Just so you know, so far it hasn't stalled (and it starts right up too) on me since we replaced the MAF sensor. And no, I haven't swapped out the relays yet. But I will buy some anyway because here they're only $8.00 - $21.00.

I will. But I do have another question for you. And it has to do with the C1230. You said this about the C1230, Right Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Input Signal Missing:
This code pertains to the ABS (Anti-Lock Brake System) and indicates that the system is not receiving a signal from the right rear wheel speed sensor. It could be due to a damaged or disconnected sensor, faulty wiring, or a problem with the ABS module.

But when I allow my scanner to scan that code it keeps saying C1229 rear speed sensor center coherency. What does it mean when it says center coherency? That makes me think it is talking about the center differential and not the back right wheel. Is my scanner off or what?

Did you replace the sensor? If so, it could be the wheel bearing is starting to fail and it will allow the sensor not to be centered on the reluctor wheel. Can you please raise the rear of the car and grasp the wheel to apply pressure to the top and bottom of the wheel to see if it has play?

Hello there. No let me explain, so far, the sensor has not been replaced yet they are supposed to do that tomorrow for sure. That is what the guy said at the repair shop. We have been waiting for the part to come in. Here is what's happening at the moment. I have taken my van to AutoZone and O'Reilly's to let them use their scanners on my van to see what code it has in there. But AutoZone's scanner will not even read my van's computer. I have been to that store countless times (both stores) and it has but now it won't. It will allow them to input the information what is needed to get started but it won't do anything else. The guy at AutoZone let me see what was on the scanner at the time and it didn't pull up a thing. So, he said take it down to O'Reilly's and see if their scanner could pull up something (and they do not like sending their customers to O'Reilly's too). And their scanner worked but the guy said he didn't see any trouble codes of any kind. And he didn't see any codes related to the ABS. But the scanner you guys ask me to get for myself keeps finding the code C1230 and that's it. The ABS light doesn't stay on all the time it will just come on for a few mins and then go off.

Well, I can't lift the back of the van up and do that (wheelchair). I don't have a working jack either unfortunately. I sure wished I could believe me. I would have the sensor replaced a week ago etc, but I will see if I can get them to check it for me if this new sensor doesn't fix the problem. Can a bad sensor cause a person's brakes to act like that? When driving along if I push on the brakes slowly then I have breaks. But if I where to slam really hard on the breaks then I can hear this spring sound for a few seconds and the van tries its best to stop quickly but it can't seem to do it. But it will stop but not quick like when the ABS system is working.

It sounds like the ABS is kicking in which a bad wheel speed sensor can cause, let's see if the new sensor fixes the problem which it should, please let me know what happens.

Update: I picked up the van and was headed home and what did I see? The ABS light still on. Instead of going off and on. Now it seems to want to stay on. But, the funny thing is I have full brakes. Here is what the repair guy told me he did. Replaced the rear speed sensor of course. And he said I was low on gear oil. So he put some more gear oil in there for me as well. Total of repair was $121.56.
Parts: $43.00
Labor: $50.00
Shop supplies:$12.00
HazMat: $10.00
Tax: $5.58

He had my van from 9:15am †3:58pm
And I don’t know what ABS codes are on there now I will check on it tomorrow. So far I haven't cleared the codes yet. Should I go ahead and clear the codes or see what they are? I have no idea what's on there now. The last time I check only one code was on there and that was C1230 etc.
