Emissions system throwing code P1446?

My car is throwing code p1446 for the vent control valve which I just replaced. What else could it be keeping that code on? I get bad gas mileage and when I put gas in the tank it stops the gas from pumping, so I have to adjust the handle.

Did you clear the codes once the repair was completed? If not, it must be done, the code will not go away on its own.

P1446 - EVAP Vent Control Valve Closed

Here is the location of the valve to make sure we are on the same page. This vent valve is under the car on the charcoal canister, if this is the valve you have replaced, the canister itself can be bad or there is a leak somewhere in the EVAP system.
