I have owned this car since 2007 and kept it in great condition, but yesterday I decided to change the battery as it had only short runs and needed recharging constantly as we only use it for doctors and hospitals so not much and it an auto and we are disabled pensioners. Anyway the new battery was fitted and everything was great that day then next time it wouldn't start and on charging the battery it set off the alarm so yanked out BTN2 and all was quiet (horn and indicators off).
Where do I start fault finding? I am a retired electrical computer technician so know my way around circuits just find cars a but of a prob at 70 but needs must.

Good afternoon,

Sounds like you have a parasitic drain. I attached a guide for you to follow to check the current draw on the battery while sitting.

Let me know which fuse is causing the draw so I can help arrow the area for you.

I already said I removed BTN 2 and everything is okay. So, it is on that system, but where to start?

Forget it, I know about parasitic drain but that doesn't answer my question - you just fobbed it off because you don't have the knowledge, if you had access to the circuit woudn't you have gone and got it and checked. Waste of time here.

Sorry, you feel that way. I have the knowledge but am trying to find the information in a diagram.

Happy New Year.

To me it sounds like the new battery is defective. Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.
