My car's radio and heater both go out when I start the car. they come on when I start the car for like a second and go off, but if I just turn the key over without starting the car they both work. just wanted to know if someone could help me know what is going on?

Check your charging system first. I have seen crazy problems like that when the alternator is not charging properly. You can step on the brakes and the load from the lights can take down the system.

Record the voltage readings and let us know what you are measuring. Here is link on how to test the alternator:
