all power to the cabin cuts out randomly

Basically I'm having an issue where all power to the cabin cuts out randomly (to me it's random). All the gauges stop working except the engine temperature which slowly goes to the hottest temperature, the cabin lights go off, dash lights go off, radio doesn't work, power locks and windows don't work, the headlights don't come on except the brights but I have to hold the lever to the on position to keep them on. my code reader will not read the system when this happens.

If I turn the headlight switch to the on position the dash back lighting comes on excluding the odometer and gear position light. Then while it's still on, if I hold the brights lever to the on position (I must be holding it on) everything comes back on.

It sounds like the ignition switch is going out. here is a guide and the switch wiring diagrams so you can confirm the failure:
